HYDERABAD:   Indian Police Service officer P Gautam Kumar today filed a petition before the Central Administrative Tribunal challenging the appointment of his junior K Aravinda Rao as the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police.

Gautam Kumar, who belongs to the 1975-batch of IPS, is currently the state Principal Secretary (Home).

HYDERABAD:   Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has directed the newly-constituted Specified Authority of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to immediately initiate a concrete plan of action to safeguard the sanctity of the world-famous temple of Lord Venkateswara atop Tirumala Hills.

Chairing the first meeting of the Specified Authority at his residence here today, the Chief Minister directed the members of the temple governing body to bring about a turn-around in the situation atop the hill shrine with emphasis on improving amenities for the devotees.

HYDERABAD:   Andhra Pradesh Congress President D Srinivas today asked the partymen not to go public with their views and stick to party discipline.

"If they have any grievance, they should meet competent persons. They should maintain discipline. People should not get the impression that we are not disciplined," he told reporters here.

HYDERABAD:   In a bid to dispel rumours about his failing health, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today came to office late in the evening and held a review meeting on rains and flood situation in the state.

Rosaiah was down with viral fever for nine days now and had visited office only for about 45 minutes on September 4 to attend the agreement signing ceremony of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project.

HYDERABAD:   Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday asked the district Collectors and other officials to increase the medical camps in all the affected areas particularly where rains are heavy and consistent.

Mr Rosaiah also asked the District Collectors and other officials to concentrate on repairs and restoration of breaches and also evacuation of people from low lying areas to safer places.

HYDERABAD:   Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi, on Wednesday, announced that his party would soon start 'Praja Chaitanya Yatra' across the Telangana region to highlight the various issues facing the state, in order to mobilise public opinion.

Talking to media persons at the PRP office, Chiranjeevi said that his party had earlier decided to start this tour immediately after his much publicised Polavaram Tour, but was delayed due to various reasons.

HYDERABAD:   Government whip Sake Shailajanath on Wednesday criticised Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for attempting to corner the government on 'filmsy' grounds.

Mr Shailajanath told media persons at the CLP office that the former chief minister has no moral right to question the government on scholarship of students, since the TDP had failed to release scholarship for students.

HYDERABAD:   The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday demanded that the government dismiss Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and take urgent steps to provide fertilisers to farmers in Telangana region.

TRS Siricilla MLA K Tarakrama Rao (KTR) took exception to the 'deliberate' silence of the Congress over the issue of inadequate supply of fertilisers to the farmers from Telangana. He said that despite ample rains in the region, the farmers were being forced to live in debts.

NELLORE:   Nellore Rural Member of Legislative Assembly Anam Vivekananda Reddy on Wednesday said that he will heed the diktat of the Congress High Command and keep away from the Odarpu Yatra taken out by Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr Vivekananda Reddy told media persons that the party is supreme for him and more important than any individual.

HYDERABAD:   Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday directed the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam authorities to provide better facilities to devotees, who come for Brahmotsavam, which is set to begin on September 11.

The Chief Minister, who convened a review meeting with TTD Specified Authority officials over the security arrangements and providing facilities to devotees at the Secretariat, told the officials to ensure no pilgrim goes through undue hardships by providing better facilities to devotees.

ONGOLE:   Stepping up his attack on TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Congress MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today said the former chief minister was making false allegations against his late father.

"My father's and my detractors are making false allegations against him even one year after his death. They are jealous of people's love and affection for us. He (Naidu) still thinks that he is the Chief Minister. But these false allegations would not stand," he said.
