LONDON:   Fernando Alonso's Formula One title hopes could suffer a knockout blow when the sport's governing body decides Ferrari's fate at a Paris hearing on Wednesday.

The Italian team, preparing for their home race at Monza this weekend, have already been fined $100,000 for manipulating the German Grand Prix in July through the use of banned 'team orders'.

LONDON:   MotoGP is looking to develop improved body protection for riders to help them survive the kind of accident that has killed two teenagers on successive race weekends.

Nineteen-year-old Japanese Shoya Tomizawa, a rising talent who won this year's first Moto2 race, died in Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix after he fell and was hit at around 240kph by other riders close behind.

MISANO:   Spain's Dani Pedrosa led from the start to win Sunday's San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix on another sad day for the sport after Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa died following a crash in an earlier race.

Honda rider Pedrosa, second in the overall standings, finished ahead of championship leader and compatriot Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha to cut the gap at the top to 63 points with six races remaining this season.

NEW DELHI:   Indian Karun Chandhok today became the first racer to drive a Formula One car on the new Korean Grand Prix circuit at Yeongam in South Korea. Driving a Red Bull Formula One car, Chandhok completed 14 laps on the circuit as part of the ''Circuit Run 2010'' event as 4000 spectators travelled to the venue.

The event also included demonstration laps by a Formula BMW and some Korean touring cars, a release said today.

LONDON:   Formula One's governing body is investigating how Ferrari's Felipe Massa was able to make a false start at last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix without any race officials or rival teams noticing.

An International Automobile Federation (FIA) spokeswoman added, however, that there was no possibility of the Brazilian losing his fourth place finish from Spa.
